Fourth of July Games for Kids

Fourth of July

The 4th of July is nearly here and just about everyone is getting excited about it. Kids in particular love this special day because it means fireworks, food and FUN! Part of that traditional fun involves playing games and sharing time with neighborhood friends and family. Here are some Fourth of July games for kids that will be sure to entertain and excite your little ones this holiday:

Have a Bike Parade

One of the coolest things we did as kids growing up on the Fourth was to decorate our bikes, big wheels and scooters with red, white and blue decorations and then have a parade in our neighborhood. The parents would line the streets and vote on who had the most creative set up. Some kids even worked together and built tiny floats for the parade.

Balloon Burst Freedom Fight

Gather the British on one side and the Americans on the other and hand out water balloons in all the right colors. Then have them go at it with each color representing a certain number of points. The Americans always win on the Fourth of July though so be sure to stack the teams!

Fourth of July Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts are perfect for kids on the Fourth of July. Just take various holiday items (small flags, etc) and hide them for a hunt in the backyard, the neighborhood or anywhere you have the room and safety precautions in place. Older kids might like a treasure hunt better with a map and all the trimmings.

Good Old Fashioned Baseball (Whiffle Ball)

When you are celebrating the Fourth of July, you have to include some version of baseball. It is as American as apple pie and tons of fun no matter what age you are. The little ones can play too by using a whiffle ball set instead of the hardball.

Pin the Hat On Uncle Sam

This one is always fun and works great for the smaller children. Just like pin the tail on the donkey, replace the donkey with Uncle Sam and let them stick the hat in place. (Or not depending on their aim after spinning around a few times. A blindfold can make it even tougher for slightly older kids.
