7 Ways To Honor The Memory Of Your Dead Loved Ones

Though Your Loved One May No Longer With You, Their Memories Can Stay With You Forever

Grieving after someone close to you has died is a long journey. It takes a while to reconcile with your losses and move ahead with life. That being said, you can now have options wherein you choose to keep the memories of your loved ones forever. There are several ways you can honor the memory of your loved ones who have passed on.

Celebrate Their Memory

The first birthday after your loved one has passed away is always a painful memory. You can get a customized Urn from Green Meadow Memorials that reflects their personality and keep it in your house. You can give special remembrance and take a few moments to celebrate their life on their birthday. You can even organize a small get-together and raise a toast to how they positively impacted your life. You can honor them by sharing your memories with them, their wisdom, and being thankful to them.

Host An Event In Their Honor

You can choose a special day like their birthday, anniversary or other holidays like mother’s day and so on. You can invite your close friends and those people who were near to the deceased. Cook up the favorite meal of the one who passed away or orders food from their favorite restaurant. Share the memories of that person. You will feel better as you will receive the support of your loved ones who equally miss the departed soul.

Give Back To Community

If your loved one was involved in any social or community work, you too can get involved in the same way. You can help to continue the legacy of your loved ones and give back in the form of charity or volunteer help. If they were not involved in anything, you can try to think what cause did they love the most or what did they focus on most. For example, if the loved one that has departed was a dedicated teacher, then you can either volunteer to teach or you can pack little backpacks full of school supplies and hand them over to the ones in need. Invite your friends as well to join you in volunteering.

Set Up A Permanent Memorial

It often helps to have a place where you can go and grieve for the loved one you lost. It is very helpful for people who had very close bonds with the deceased. You can build a memorial or gravesite and visit it as a special place when you miss them and want to honor them. If a gravesite is not possible, then you can install a memorial item like a bench in the park, plant a tree, or something as an alternative. You can add a plaque to it and it can include a message for the one you have lost in your life.

Make A Memory Box

There will be many items of the loved one you lost that you can give away to charity. However, there will be some special items that remind you of their lifetime. You can make a treasurer box and add all those little items to it. Whenever you miss them, you can go through the items and feel more connected to them. These can be albums or videotapes of the deceased one. In this box, you should add items that you can see and touch and which reflect the memories of the person who died.

Create A Tradition

If your loved one who is no longer with you likes to do something specific like playing football, then make a tradition to meet with your loved ones every year on a certain day to play the game and honor the person you lost. It can be on the day of their birthday or the day that they passed away.

Visit Special Places

If you have any nice memories of visiting a special place or city that the person who passed away liked, then you can repeat the same once every year or every few years. It will bring back the memories of the time you spent with them and help you to honor them.

Keep in mind that death does not stop you from loving and honoring someone who passed away. You can always love and cherish them in your heart. Make an outlet that can help you to show your love for them and express what you feel. By taking any of the options above, you will feel closer to the person you loved and lost.
