This is the Oregon Zoo’s 25th anniversary of Zoo Lights.

With more than a million led lights, this will be sure to put a twinkle in your eye that will make you feel like a kid again. The Zoo Lights has become a truly magical place that for a few hours will take you right back to your childhood and have you skipping and shouting right there with your kids..”ooooh look at that!!!”  and “WOW!!! this is amazing”.

They still have you favorites.. (mine is the inch worm) and a few new surprises sprinkled about. You will want to make sure to hop on the train as this is the last year of this particular route. Things will be shifting around due to the expansion of the elephant exhibit.

ZooLights schedule

  • Sunday-Thursday hours: ZooLights gates are open from 5-8 p.m. Guests may stay on grounds until 9 p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday hours: ZooLights gates are open from 5-8:30 p.m. Guests may stay on grounds until 9:30 p.m.
  • Train: Train will begin running around 5:15 p.m.
  • There will be no ZooLights on Monday, Dec. 24 or Tuesday, Dec. 25

The Zoo Lights has been a tradition in our family for many years but as the family has gotten larger it can put a little pinch in our budget, especially this time of year.
To ease the sting we buy an annual “family” membership for $79. For our family size of 8 it would cost us $81.50 to get in to Zoo Lights and do the train.
I love having the membership!!!! We also try to make it out  to the Howl-o-ween event that they put on every year for Halloween, not to mention the all the shows and concerts that they have in the Summer.
