Thank you Disney for inviting me down to LA and hosting me for the Ant Man and the Wasp interview press junket.

We had the privilege of getting the inside scoop from director Peyton Reed about big secret/spoiler on Ant-Man and The Wasp and some hints about what may be happening in the future with in the Marvel Universe.

What the Hell?!?!?!

Our first response… question…. statement…. very bluntly what, what the hell??? He knew exactly what we meant and if you have seen the movie, so do you! With a coy smile on his face he simply stated… “Separate them in your mind”

He went on to talk about the process in planning for such a shocking end.

“It was not completely planned in the beginning. We knew we were gonna have to deal with that thing at some point in some way. Actually, we weren’t sure at the beginning. We

knew that our movie was gonna take place, it sort of not only a sequel to Ant Man but also to Civil War because we couldn’t ignore what Scott Lange did in that movie but we weren’t always sure how we were gonna fit it into the larger timeline with regards to Infinity War.” “Somewhere during the process, this idea occurred to us of like Oh, well we could do something like that.”

Could Cassie becoming an Avenger?

We all love the bond and loving relationship that Cassie and Scott have… she already stands behind him in so many ways. During the bedroom where Scott is talking to Cassie and they’re chatting about having a partner and Cassie wants to be his partner. Is there a possibility of Cassie becoming an Avenger. Is that kind of a nod to the potential of her doing something later on?

“I think that everybody is aware like from the first Ant-man and now in the Ant-man and The Wasp, who Cassie is in the comics and that she does become a hero. So I think we wanted to definitely start laying some groundwork for that possibility. I don’t know what the specific plans are but I really liked the idea.”

“I think it’s fun to work with Abbey three years later now. I always love in movies when you see particularly a little kid then 6 in the first movie and 9 now, how she has sort of grown. And I like the idea that you have these glimpses where she goes toe to toe with Agent Wu And then she covers for her Dad, she’s got that side of Scott, you know, a little mischievous.”

“I really love the idea of doing that intimate scene where she’s talking about maybe need a partner and in her mind, it’s her and him having to say that of course you could do it but I’d be a terrible father if I allowed you to do it.”

What’s coming up in the next installment?

So, the burning question we all want to know, What’s coming up in the next installment?

“I have to be so careful. Wasp is gonna shoot me in the neck, with a gun.”

“I don’t know if it’s a real threat but to me, the whole idea of the Spoilers thing is, there are certain things that you want to keep secret and there’s an exhilaration as an audience to experience something. It’s so rare now to see a movie that you know nothing about. It’s kind of a lost art.”

“I think one of the fun things about the Marvel Universe is I think there is a larger plan but that plan is extremely fluid. And people always ask what did you have to do in this move to pay off the other thing and his general philosophy at least with the Ant-man movies has been make them as stand alone as possible and anything you guys decide to do, whoever the Directors are in the next movie, they’re gonna have to deal with the ramifications, which is kind of nice.”

We all loved his answers but, I think he could see by the expressions on our face that we were wanting more….

He followed up with “I know I’m dodging your question but I think it is sort of leaving things open ended and I know things that I want to do with those characters and stories that I want

to tell and how we progress the characters.“

Peyton left us with this final thought, “This whole movie is really about what are they gonna be? Does she need him as a partner? Are they gonna be able to work as a partnership? I feel like this movie really answers that question. But then it’s like well what next…..? The possibilities are really endless as characters, but as an audience member,I want to see what happens to them next.”
