This last June my daughter got married to her wonderful husband and with that hold a whole new host of exciting experiences…. including hosting her first Thanksgiving Holiday.

I remember hosting my first Thanksgiving… it was both exciting and intimidating. My mother told me the trick to hosting a great dinner was to get all the food to the table nice and HOT. That can be a real challenge when you are serving several dishes to a group of 16 with little space and cooking room. I must say she did a phenomenal job and everything looked and tasted delicious.

Part of what made everything so successful was the Calphalon Stainless Steel Cookware that she had put on her Target Wedding Registry  earlier this year. Boy that was such a time saver having everything she needed all ready in one box, plus the fact that it was Stainless steel meant she was able to cook the food evenly with almost perfection.

A little tradition we have in our family is when you host your first Thanksgiving you get a brand new dish set to accommodate everyone. I was really excited to get this for her because it was really a special symbol. I went to Target and picked up the Threshold Bistro Ceramic 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, I had a really hard time deciding which color to get but went with the green because I thought that would also work really well fro Christmas if she added a cute red charger underneath.

The one thing that would have been really nice that she wishes she had received on her registry was the SONOS PLAY: 5 Wireless HiFi System, being that we has so many people over it was hard to hear everyone, let alone the music. If she were able to set this speaker in the family room or in the entrance than we would still have been able to enjoy the music without it being drowned out by all the talking…. I guess that will be on her Christmas list year 😉

This year she wanted to start a bit of her own tradition to be able to carry on. Our whole family loves pumpkin so she wanted to make up a recipe to fix every year as her contribution, she came up with Pumpkin Crème Brule. It was absolutely amazing and I hope that I don’t have to wait all the way to Thanksgiving to have it again.
