I don’t think anyone chooses to be the neighborhood mom…. I think they kinda choose you. Even though you never get a break, your fridge is always open, your door is always left open and you are the neighborhood nurse… it really is quite an honor. Just think, those kids WANT to be at your house, either because you are the cool mom, your house is warm and inviting or even because they feel safe. With that honor comes a HUGE grocery bill and lots of medical attention.
I “fortunately” am a neighborhood mom and though it comes with its challenges, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I have a few kids that are at my house from morning till night and that means lots of hard play……which means lots scrapes, scratches and the occasional bee sting. Lucky for me I have a filled first aid kit full of products I trust, especially when I am the one caring for others. You can never have enough Band-Aids, Neosporin, cleaner and sunblock.

I hardly ever use coupons for these types or purchases. I probably need to restock my medicine cabinet with some supplies though.

I always end up being, “the mom” for groups too, except when it comes to snacks. I am really bad at snacks.
