Why Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Is Our Go To Family Tradition -Plus FREE Parade Scavenger Hunt Printables #AD #MacysParadeSo, what are you going to be doing on Thanksgiving morning? Will you be hosting a feast, putting the turkey in the oven or will you be packing the car to visit friends or family…. what ever it maybe, Thanksgiving is one of those holidays that plays heavily on tradition.

Many of the Thanksgiving traditions I experienced as a kid, I have passed on to my family.

Every Thanksgiving my kids roll out of bed and curl up on the couch to enjoy our favorite part of Thanksgiving… the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. We have improved upon our family tradition and found a way to connect and enjoy the day before the hustle and bustle begins…. we eat dessert first. Yes, that’s right, while the turkey is roasting, we pull out the family pumpkin, apple and pecan pie and thoroughly enjoy it while we watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. As many of you know, you fall into one of two categories… either you are hosting the big dinner, you are not only busy and stressed but rarely do you actually get to “enjoy” any of your efforts OR you are just simply too full. By eating dessert first, we have managed to solve both of those issues.

I would have to say this is my favorite part of Thanksgiving. I love getting to snuggle with my hubby and the kids and enjoy the parade. I just love watching all the Broadway performances and my husband loves watching these leggy, beautiful woman called The Rockettes…. I wonder why 😉 My kids all have their favorites… of course the teens draw near to the television as soon as they see their latest heart throb serenading to them from the floats. While my littles are always thrilled to see the latest balloons…. they were just telling me the other day that they can’t wait to see SpongeBob. I think my family also enjoys hearing every year how “Mommy and Daddy stood right there on the street where that painted Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade logo is”….. can you feel the sarcasm…, yet it is an annual obligatory mention *WINK*.

I think we can all agree… we all look forward to Santa! It has been a long known fact… ever since I was a kids and even before, that HE IS THE REAL Santa 😉

On Thursday, November 23rd, the 91st, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade® will march down the streets of New York City as the country gathers to celebrate. The unparalleled event is set to enthrall more than 3.5 million spectators lining the streets of Manhattan and
more than 50 million viewers on television with a host of giant character balloons, dazzling floats, the nation’s best marching bands and performance groups, celebrities, and the official entrance of the one-and-only Santa Claus.
I am even more excited for this year because I have heard that Macy’s will be featuring an all-star ensemble cast of celebrities from pop culture, stage and TV all singing and dancing together in an epic performance of Dancin’ in The Street! Also, as part of
our first hour of festivities Gwen Stefani will perform “White Christmas” at the Bryant Park ice rink surrounded by fans and skaters.
So grab your kids, grab your pie and enjoy the early morning festivities of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade this Thursday, November 23rd at 9am! To view the full parade line up, you can go to this website https://www.macys.com/social/parade/
