Happy October 1st everyone!!! This is one of my favorite times of year and I have kept up with a tradition of celebrating the beginning of the Halloween, or PUMPKIN season!

We carve pumpkins and put them on the local bridge in town where the town lights them up for the night of river fire. Hundreds of people come to this even where there is food vendors and a haunted house and hay rides and when it gets dark they light up all the booms on the river.

The only tradition we have is on Christmas Eve we go to my moms family and then home (to my parents) even though we are all grown and have homes of our own and families and open presents there. Then we go home and open them with our kids

My dad always has a big party before Halloween where the kids have hayrides, ride go-karts, get pumpkins, bonfire and more. The kids love it and he is on 40 acres so it is great!

Before we had kids, my wife and I lived in an area that had a giant pumpkin patch where you would pick your own pumpkin, and around this time of year we always wish we lived there again so our kids could go. That would be a great tradition.

We get together as a family and all go down to the river fiver. It’s when they set the river on fire with booms and everyone in town brings down their carved pumpkins and we light them all up on the bridge.
