A lot of people suffer from various types of digestive issues. These include bloating, gas, constipation, heartburn, and diarrhea. The gastrointestinal tract in the body is responsible for maintaining healthy digestion. It consists of several organs, including the mouth, stomach, large and small intestines, rectum, and anus, which may all be referred to as the “gut”. Not having proper gut health can be unsettling both physically and mentally. A low-fiber diet, less exercise, stress, infections, and some medications may cause gut issues. Along with lifestyle changes, it is vital to have a diverse and balanced ratio of good gut bacteria in the microbiome. What is a Gut Microbiome?

 

All bacteria, fungi, viruses, and microscopic objects are called microbes or microorganisms. The body has at least a trillion of these at any given point. They are mainly found on the skin and the stomach. Inside the intestines, they are located inside the cecum or caecum (a small pouch connected to the appendix). Organisms that are collectively found in the cecum and throughout the intestinal tract are referred to as the gut microbiome. Their weight varies between two to five pounds, and they work as an extra organ. Gut bacteria help supply crucial nutrients, process vitamin K, encourage enteric nerve function, and assist in cellulose digestion. However, when an imbalance occurs in their composition, it is called dysbiosis. Irritable bowel syndrome, cramps, abdominal pain, and almost all types of abdominal issues are linked to it.

 

What Supplements Should You Take?

 

Probiotics

 

Probiotics are microorganisms that contain both bacteria and yeast. They are found in natural foods like yogurt, tempeh, kimchi, and miso. However, not everybody can consume those because of various reasons. Probiotic supplements are your only recourse in such situations. When choosing a supplement, it’s important to make sure it can survive through stomach acid and be released into the intestinal tract where it can help populate good bacteria. Having multiple clinically tested strains of bacteria is also recommended.

 

Vitamin B

 

Microbes also require different types of vitamins to function. One of them is B vitamins. Although there are several different types, they all fall in the same category. They can be found in varying quantities in eggs, beans, leafy greens, whole grains, fish, and dairy. The problem is in their amount, which could be insufficient. In some cases, you may not be able to process the food efficiently. To maintain a healthy digestive tract, you need to take B1 (Thiamine), B6 (Pyridoxine), and B3 (Niacin).

 

Zinc Carnosine

 

Zinc Carnosine is a compound that has both carnosine and zinc. Several studies have shown that it is beneficial for maintaining gut integrity. It restores the gastric lining, heals parts of the gastrointestinal tract, improves taste, and enhances liver and skin functions. You can find it in minuscule quantities in items like legumes, cheese, shellfish, eggs, and meat. To ensure enough of it in your body, you need to consume it as a supplement. It has zinc, whose deficiency can cause several stomach disorders. Bacterial and viral infections are also kept away by it. Carnosine helps significantly if the lining of the stomach is damaged. Although zinc is separated from the food and absorbed quickly, it can be a problem with a thin lining. What carnosine does is slow down the separation process while attaching itself to the localized tissue injury site. That process helps in its absorption by the body.

 

Licorice Root

 

You cannot have good gut health without a well-functioning gut. Licorice root helps to do just that. Found mainly in Asia and Europe, it contains glycyrrhizin. In its supplement form, it is available as capsules and powder. It also contains flavonoids like “glabrene and glabridin,” which treat stomach disorders, nausea, heartburn, and cramps. Peptic ulcers are also cured with regular consumption. Most medical experts claim that you should limit your intake to 100 grams per day.

 

These are some of the supplements along with Megasporebiotic that may help you maintain a healthy gut. They work mainly inside the small intestine to balance the gut bacteria to ensure there are more good guys than bad guys. When there is a good balance of gut bacteria combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle many gut disorders are greatly reduced or eliminated.
