While in LA last month for the Moana event we got the opportunity to tour the set of ABC TV’s new family comedy Speechless, we got to walk the set and rub elbows with the cast including Minnie Driver, John Ross Bowie, Micah Fowler, and Speechless Executive Producer Scott Silveri!
Scott Silveri is a veteran television writer and producer. Born and raised in Yonkers, New York, his earliest credits were NBC’s “Mad About You” and “Friends,” where he rose through the ranks to executive producer, receiving the Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series. He co-created the show’s spinoff, “Joey.”
Recent work includes the NBC series “Go On,” starring Matthew Perry, which Scott created, and “Perfect Couples,” co-created with Jon Pollack. At Twentieth Century Fox Television, Scott developed numerous projects and served as executive producer on the pilot for Fox series “The Grinder.”

Maya DiMeo (Minnie Driver) is a mom on a mission who will do anything for her husband Jimmy, her kids Ray, Dylan, and JJ, her eldest son with cerebral palsy. As Maya fights injustices both real and imagined, the family works to make a new home for themselves, and searches for just the right person to give JJ his “voice.”

We were so excited!!! This was my first set walk, so I wasn’t too sure what to expect…. but I can tell you there is a lot of tv magic that goes on!!
This is the living room. I love all the detail that takes place and all the markings around so everything is just so and in it’s place.
I got to help myself around the kitchen….It is amazing how they add everything to make it so authentic.
Micah Fowler was such a sweetheart and made sure to thank each and every person who engaged him with him.
I loved meeting Minnie Driver and John Ross Bowie! They were so sweet and personable. When asked about being on Speechless, you could really see them light up and see the passion in their eyes. It’s wonderful when you can tell they really love what they do!

With a brand new episode
“R-A-Y-C RAY-CATION” Maya enlists the family to assist JJ in romancing a girl at school, but it backfires when JJ expresses his feelings to Claire, and they are not reciprocated. Meanwhile, as the DiMeos are always late, Ray has the family practice to get to school in time for his upcoming weekend field trip.
