When you have a large family like I do, it is easy to cluster all the kids together as a group when it comes to tasks like the dentist or Dr. appointments, it makes things more streamlined to keep everyone on the same page. Since they were little though, I have always made back to school shopping a special time. Yes, this means I am going out 5 time this year to do back to school shopping, and yes, that is probably why I get my annual “back to school migraine” but I love the bonding time we get from this. We try to make it a full day excursion with shopping and lunch. The kids love that they get my undivided attention for a little bit while I get to spoil them.

This last week I took my 7 year old out for his own special time. He was so excited for “his” special day that, he was counting down the days. One thing that he mentioned was looking forward to was big kids clothes. You see, he is finally out of the 6-7x size and ready for the solid 6 and up sizes. The first place that popped up into my head was taking him to OshKosh B’goshas they have big kid sizes all they way up to size 14! My little one was so thrilled for his “special day”. After a long days of shopping, lunch and laughing…. you have to end with ice cream… right??

He couldn’t wait to get home and show his brothers and sisters his new gear. He told me…. “they are going to be so jealous”

Now with Oregon weather, shopping for back to school is difficult. We will continue to have hot weather for several weeks now and then BOOM, it is raining and 60 degrees, like a flip of a switch. Because we never really know what weather we will wake up too… or have it be freezing in the morning and sweaty in the afternoon, I really need to shop with versatility.
