This may cause conflict or it may scare a small child. Lunging is another thing that needs to be prevented. Even though this happens due to over excitement, it can scare someone and can potentially be dangerous. Your dog needs to understand that it isn’t ok to lunge at other people and dog. You can also partially prevent this by recognizing the situation and making a distraction. Treats always work well in such cases. However, it’s much better if the puppy learn through your body language that this is not the proper behavior.
