Broadway Musical Aladdin

10 Reasons To See The Broadway Musical Hit – Aladdin

The Music –  Must I really say more? The play follows all the songs that most of you have grown up loving. The catchy toe tapping music will have you singing along and wiggling in your seat for a truly full immersed sensation from your head to your toes.

The Dancing – Again…. are you really surprised?!?! Even though you probably assume that these were a given, the “traditional” dance that they incorporated will astound you. There really is not a dull moment in this family friendly musical.

Great Musical For Kids –I have been to a few Broadway shows that you may not have thought would be for the more mature crowd….. but you can rest assured that the Musical Aladdin is PERFECT for the whole family! If fact, this would be an amazing show to introduce your first-timers, as this show is action packed from start to finish!

The Genie! – The show may be titled Aladdin but we all know that the real star of the show is the Genie! With his wit, comedy and charm, Major Attaway (Genie) was spot on. I think Robin Williams is a hard pair of shoes to fill, and he was EVERYTHING you would hope that the Genie would be.

Relive Your Childhood – This is a guilty pleasure perk. Aladdin was my most memorable Disney movie. I am not exaggerating when I say, that I had watched it easily over 100 times during my 7th grade year. All of my friends would sit around and watch the movie, while we recited line by line.  During this show, gather your friends, family and kids and go back to your childhood.

Aladdin – Um…. how can I write this post without mentioning Aladdin! So, side story, the cartoon Aladdin was my first crush when I was 12 year old, is that weird?!?! Well, Aladdin had charm, charisma, and a killer smile. When they cast Clinton Greenspan (Aladdin), they did an amazing job of capturing that confidant, yet shy boy next door feel that you can’t help but “fall” for. AND they did an amazing job of making sure that he was VERY easy on the eyes and have you swooning right along side Jasmine.

Jasmine – The character that every little girl want to be! Lissa deGuzman (Jasmine) was made for this part. She was beautiful, feminine yet so strong. Her elegance that she projected though song and dance was unlike any female Disney lead that I have seen before.

The Carpet Ride – This is a truly jaw dropping moment! The directors have done a fabulous job designing this pivotal moment in the show. It was so important that they got this moment “right” and they knocked it out of the park. All the feels that you get, can’t even be described and put into words. This is truly one of those show experiences that you have to live to feel how magical it is!

Jafar – EVERYBODY loves a good villain, right? We want to boo for the bad guy and we want him to give a good fight! What I like about Jafar is he is a truly evil character but he is real…. not a mystical creature like Ursula or a witch.

The Sets – In a way the real star of the musical is the sets…. no spoilers here but let’s just say….. this is the BEST set I have seen. They colors, details, dimension….. all of it, not a detail left undone! My favorite was the “cave of wonder”. If you have seen it, I would love to know which was your favorite.

Here is a quote from a friend of mine that attended the show!

“I felt like I was in A WHOLE NEW WORLD watching the Broadway show Aladdin!  All of the glitter and gold transported me into the beauty of this classic Disney tale.  The Genie was magical, he WOW-ed the stage and made everyone laugh with his side comedy.  Aladdin and Jasmine were incredible.  The dancing and singing had me mesmerized, I didn’t want it to end.
During the magic carpet ride I had tears in my eyes. It was so beautiful and made me feel like I was a kid again.  That scene was by far the best part of the show!
I can’t say enough how wonderful the performance was.  From the costumes, to all the colors, the marvelous voices and eye catching choreography!! Hands down, best Broadway show I have ever seen.  Bravo!”
